The New Zealand Residential Real Estate Property Market never stops completely according to Paul Scrimshaw from Tommy’s Real Estate in Kapiti. I often hear talk like “We will wait until Spring when there are more buyers looking before trying to sell our property”
Sure sales numbers are generally higher in Spring and Summer. This is a combination of both more buyers and sellers being active at the same time.
It is important to remember that the market never stops completely and there are always buyers looking to make a move. Winter sales can often be quite strong in regard to sales value because there are less listings for buyers to select from.
New Zealand property prices are remaining reasonably stable. The rise in the year to April was 6.1 per cent. This compares with the same period last year. By comparison the national average sales price for the 3 months up to April was down slightly to $405,235 from the previous figure of $407,133 in March. Property values across the country remain 3.9 per cent below their earlier peak in late 2007.
