$4m Raumati Straights Link Road Gets Go Ahead
The Greater Wellington Regional Council has given the go ahead for construction of a new link road running parallel with State Highway One across Whareroa Farm near Queen Elizabeth Park.
The plan is to construct a two-lane road to provide an alternative route between Paraparaumu and MacKays Crossing. It will mean the closure of the dangerous rail crossing and State Highway access at waterfall Road.
The new link road will join up with Emerald Glen Rd, which leads on to Waterfall Rd and Valley Rd on the eastern side of the railway line.
Project completion is due in October ahead of the completion of the railway double tracking and extension to Waikanae. The new road will provide an alternate route for residents of Kaitawa on the eastern hills of Paraparaumu.
